What Size Chain Is Needed For 24" Taylor Made Sur-Moor Traditional Mooring Buoy 36922174?
Question:
What thickness of chain is recommended for this Taylor Made Traditional Mooring Buoy - 24D? And what length? I was going to guess 2 inches and 10 feet. Will you need ten feet for the top and ten feet for down at the concrete block? THanks!

I reached out to Taylor Made who informed me that you will want to use a chain that weighs 50% of the buoyancy rating for the Taylor Made Sur-Moor Traditional Mooring Buoy # 36922174. Since this buoy has a buoyancy rating of 240lbs you will want to use a chain that weighs 120lbs. I have added a diagram from Taylor Made that will show the recommended anchoring with the light chain being the chain with the 120lbs weight rating.
The length will depend on the depth of the water to your concrete block you will use to anchor the buoy. Once you have the length you need you will be able to find the correct size chain based on the weight per foot of chain.
