In addition to your current 4-way wiring plug, you need the additional 4-Pole Wiring Kit # 18252 to harness. This is a great measure because if something ever happens to the light itself, you can simply unplug it from your current setup. With the # 18252, you will match the wires to splice into your vehicle's current wiring with the following colors and functions:

- Yellow: left turn
- Green - right turn
- brown: running lights
- white: ground to frame

I went ahead and attached a video that shows the installation of a similar harness with a light bar starting at timestamp 7:00. Even though this is installed on a Silverado 1500, the process is virtually the same for your Ram 1500.

I recommend that the mounting location is not close to any moving components and is accessible enough to plug in the light bar's harness. Once you find that location, I recommend using the mounting bracket plate # 18144 along with the no-drill mounting bracket # 18136 to attach the plug.

If you need a great option for a taillight bar, I recommend the Rampage SuperBrite LED Tailgate Light Bar - Stop, Tail, Turn - 4-Pole Flat # RA960134. This bar comes with super bright LEDs and is designed to work specifically on your 2017 Ram 1500. I went ahead and attached an installation video that shows the 4-way plug on this light being installed on the inside of the bumper. The process on your light bar will be very similar except you will have the additional installation of the mount and bracket.
