What Replacement Trunnion Bars do You Recommend for My Fastway e2 System and 800 Lbs. Tongue Weight?

Question:

I have a Forest River 195 and realize that the original specs for tongue weight did not include much of the standard gear that I would pack. My trunnion bars are rated for 600 pounds and a recent trip to the CAT scales indicates that my tongue weight I’d 840 which is just under 17. This trailer unit is manufactured to be very light and current fully loaded trailer axle weight is 4420 with WD. I want to ungraded my trunnion bars and am thinking that if I can reduce my tongue weight to 800 then going forward I will probably run a tongue weight between 700-800 pounds. So currently thinking that the 800 trunnions would be appropriate as I am concerned the if I choose 1000 pound trunnions with such a light trailer the will be to stiff. Any thoughts on which trunnions to upgrade to?.

As long as your trailer does not exceed 800 pounds, I recommend the 800-pound bars over the 1,000 pound bars. This is because you are right on the money when you conclude that the 1,000 pound trunnions with your trailer will be a stiff ride.

Since you say that you have an Fast Way e2 spring bar system, the upgraded bars you need are the Replacement Trunnion Spring Bars for Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Systems # FA92-01-0899. These bars are designed to fit your current Fastway e2 weight distribution system. Also, since these trunnions work with a trailer up to 8,000 lbs of GTW, they give you enough support on your Forest River 195.
