Carrying Two 60 Lb E-Bikes On A 2020 Hyundai Elantra

Question:

I have a 2020 Hyundai Elantra that I intend to install a 1 1/4” hitch on. I want to carry 2 aventon aventure ebikes with 4.4 “ tires and fenders. The weight is 61 lbs each w/o the battery and I can remove the seats to get it down to 59 lbs or so. Will this rack work for me and my bikes? Thanks for your expertise!

I do have a solution for you, but there will be some limitations. Any of the trailer hitches that are compatible with your 2020 Hyundai Elantra are Class I trailer hitches and have a maxiimum tongue weight of 200 lbs. This means the weight of the bike and the hitch bike rack you carry cannot exceed 200 lbs. I do have a solution for you. My recommendation is the Saris SuperClamp EX Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount, part # SA4025F, is compatible with Class I trailer hitches. It has a 60 lb weight limit per bike and it can carry bikes with tires up to 4.5" wide. Your bikes and this rack will weigh 153 lbs.

The Saris Freedom Bike Rack for 2 Fat Bikes you attached to your question, part # SA4412B, will only work with Class I trailer hitches at a reduced capacity (35 pounds).

I have included a product description link and a video review below.
