P2 Trailer Brake Controller Makes a Clicking Sound when the Manual Override is Used on a 2009 Sierra

I just installed my prodigy p2 on my 2009 sierra. When I engage the manual control, it makes a clicking noise. It sounds like an electrical contacter engaging. I used to have a regular prodigy and I never heard this. Is this normal?

I spoke with my contact at Tekonsha and confirmed that the P2 # 90885 should be making that clicking sound when you engage the manual override. Starting in 2012, they put a relay inside the brake controller so that when the manual override is engaged it sends power back through the red wire to illuminate the vehicle brake lights.

They started doing this because of some state laws and because they anticipate the laws will expand into other states.
