Replacement Awning For CrossRoads Zinger Travel Trailer

Question:

2013 Crossroads Zinger ZT-251BH I want to replace the old crank out Carefree awning as the arms are bent. How do I know if I have sufficient backing to screw on the new arms? The original is only bolted at the top and bottom whereas this awning bolts in the center as well. Can you tell me when you would use rivets to attach? Is that only for fiberglass sidewalls or would that be a better option to use in the center holes if I am uncertain about the backing.

Selecting an awning for your 2013 CrossRoads Zinger Travel Trailer, you will need the bracket length (measure from the bottom to the top of one bracket) and the overall length (measure from the middle of one bracket to the middle of the other). If you have an awning installed currently, you have sufficient backing for replacing it. Depending on the siding and the tool, many times you can use a stud finder on an RV as well to identify mounting locations. These awning are typically installed using self tapping screws and this works just fine. If, when installing a new awning the predrilled holes in the bracket does not match well to a location for previous hardware and you don't feel comfortable there is sufficient backing at that location, drill new hardware hole in the bracket that matches with where you know there to be backing. You can use rivets to attach at any point you prefer, but self taping screw work just fine and is the most common type of fastener.

If your current awning is 16' wide, I suggest the Solera 18V Power RV Awning, # LC729486 with rechargeable battery. Not only is this a great option in an awning but allows for a powered awning to be installed without the need for running wires into the camper.

Attached below is an awning installation video. It is a similar awning that has brackets that install the same way, but not the # LC729486.
