Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for a 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Short Bed

Question:

Hi! I just bought a 2004 short bed crew cab Chevrolet 2500 and I need to put a gooseneck hitch in it to pull my two-horse trailer. I was wondering what type of hitch you would recommend? I have had two trucks previously one with a plate and hitch and the other with a hid-a-ball option where I could lower the ball and then have the whole bed to use and so I thought I might go that route again since the bed is already short and I do sometimes haul other things besides horses! Any thoughts and/or advice would be great!

For your 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed if you need an offset ball for more clearance I recommend going with the Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose, # 9465-34 and adding the offset ball # 19308 which will give you 5 inches more clearance. I have included some links on the Hide-A-Goose as well.
