Trailer Hitch-Mount 2-Bike Carrier for a 2008 Audi A3 3.2l S-line
Question:
The fit my car widget on Yakimas website recommends the ridgeback 4 for my Audi 2008 A3 3.2l S-line but not the model I want to buy from etrailer- because they look like theyre exactly the same design except for bike capacity. No? I only need to carry two bikes. Will the ridgeback 2 work for me? I have 1 1/4inch hitch. Thanks!!

The trailer hitches available for your Audi A3 are Class I trailer hitches so Yakima bike racks will not fit. I recommend the Swagman Trailhead, # S63360. This rack is compatible with Class I trailer hitches and holds two bikes. It can tilt down, has anti-sway cradles, and has a rise in the shank to allow for more ground clearance.
If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wife's bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my son's bike at all. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
