Adding 7 Pin RV Style Connector To 2018 Ford F-150 XLT for Electric Brake Controller
Question:
My 2018 F-150 XLT 4wd did not come with factory brake controller or 7-pin harness. I had the dealership install a 7-pin harness from the factory 4-pin harness that my truck came with. I am currently using the Echo wireless brake controller after I had to run a red 12v power wire from the battery to the 7-pin harness. I want to install the Tekonsha P3 brake controller, but I noticed the blue brake controller wire at the rear bumper was not connected to my 7-pin harness. Not sure why this wasnt connected, but what do I need to do in order to install the Tekonsha P3 brake controller and have brake output to the 7-pin harness for my travel trailers electric brakes? I have already purchased the Tekonsha P3 controller and Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter part #22292, but Im concerned my truck isnt capable of just plugging in the adapter and it working correctly if this blue wire isnt connected to anything?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers, # 22292 eases installation of your electric brake controller. But the Blue wire needs to be connected to the # 2 pin for your Tekonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195 brake controller to properly function.
