What Cables and Connection Plug do I Need to Charge My Trailer from My 2005 RAM 2500?

Question:

Hello I own a 2005 RAM 2500 truck and tow a 25 Airstream, and want to improve the ability of the trailer batteries 2x100ah to charge from the alternator. The 14ga charge wiring to the 7 way and lack of isolator means I get almost no charge now. Id like to install an isolator, run a heavy gauge wire pair to the rear bumper of the truck, and install an aux charge plug and cable to the trailer. I need a recommendation for the aux bumper plug and mating trailer cable. Can you recommend? Also, are there isolators that incorporate multi stage charging like battery chargers do? Or do I need a separate device in the trailer to do that? Thanks Andy

For the correct bumper plug and cable, the correct part you need for your application is the Bulldog Winch Booster Cable Set w/ Power Leads - Quick Connect to Clamp - 2 Gauge # BDW20197. This part is sold as a winch cable, but it will work for your application.

As far as isolators that incorporate multi-stage charging, we unfortunately do not have a part that gives you this function from your alternator.
