Difficulty Installing Demco DM8552025-71 5th Wheel Bracket/Rail Kit on 2017 Ram 2500

Question:

I started the installation of this kit on my 2017 Ram 2500 short box and ran into an issue that I hope you can help me out with, The rail closest to the tail gate install went perfectly and I used the recon base to properly position the front rail. After drilling the 5/8inch holes I proceeded to use a longer drill on the channel below. The holes did not seem to align properly and when I used the 1inch hole saw and ed the long bolt it was too tight against the edge of the channel to allow for ion of the spacer. My question is if I were to ream out the holes to make everything fit will that alter the structural integrity of the rail system. Im thinking to make the 5/8inch hole on top slight larger to allow for some play and also to ream out the 1inch hole a bit on the underside. Or what would you suggest to get the install completed ? Please let me know if yo have any advise Thanks

According to my contact in the Tech Services department at Demco, a 1 inch drill bit is recommended instead of a hole saw. Since you'll need to enlarge the hole somewhat, Demco recommends doing that from the underside, then feeding the steel bushing up from underneath. The frame brackets are slotted where they attach to the frame, which will allow for a little wiggle room. I've linked to an install video that you might find helpful.
