Bulldog Powered A-Frame Trailer Jack has Been Over Retracted
Question:
I have over retracted the bulldog electric jack and I cant get it to extend. Is there a simple fix for this. If not how do you take it apart to fix it.

If the Bulldog Powered-Drive Trailer Jack # BD500161 has been over retracted then that means there could be internal damage and you would not be able to easily fix it. One possible issue is that at the end of the screw inside the jack which has threads that are smashed and deformed on purpose to prevent it from coming all the way out, could have damaged the nut threads. This would make it broken beyond repair. In this case you would have to replace the jack.
Another possible issue is that something inside the motor has been stripped and will no longer engage to lower the leg. You would need to replace the jack in this situation too.
One thing you can try is lowering the jack manually by removing the cap on the top and using a socket and ratchet to crank the jack up and down. You should be able to break it free doing this. Then, with no weight on the jack try the electric operation to see if it works smoothly. If it does not then you will have to replace the jack.
If it were me I would just go ahead and replace it just in case there is additional unseen damage. I would suggest the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack - Drop Leg - A-Frame - 23" Lift - 5,000 lbs - Black, Item # JET-5000 as a replacement.
