Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution for Trailer with 565 lb Tongue Weight

Question:

I am a big fan of the Reese Steadi-Flex, especially since it’s so easy to use. I now have a newer, smaller single torsion axle camper and want to pick the right system. I tow w a 2019 Ford F-150 supercrew with a 6.5 bed. I replaced the factory rear bump stops with 1,000 lb Summo Springs. Truck GVWR: 7050lbs, average is 6300 loaded. Camper max weight allowed: 3877 Average cargo weight past rear truck axle: 100lbs tongue weight at average 12: 465 Estimated Total tongue weight: 565 I used Reese 66559 before. Now I thought I could use 66558 but the camper A frame tubular measurement is 2” x 5”. And the 66558 states “ will not fit 2” wide frames”. Is the 66559 overkill? I was about 625 lbs total tongue weight on last camper and loved the Steadi-Flex ease of use and sway control.

If your loaded tongue weight is 565 lbs then the Steadi-Flex part # RP66559 would work since it has a tongue weight range of 500-1,000 lbs. The part # RP66559 has a much narrower tongue weight range of 400 to 600 lbs and since you are pretty close to 600 you'd be best served going with the higher rated setup.

Also if needed you could always have spacers welded to sides of trailer frame for the additional width for the brackets.
