Will Ultra-Fab Motorcycle Carrier Fit a 2005 Dodge Sprinter and a Zuma Scooter
Question:
I would like to know if I can use the UF48-0979033 to carry my Zuma 125 on my Sprinter van. My primary concern is how much length the carrier will add to my van for clearance purposes. Will I be able to enter parking lots etc. without the hitch carrier bottoming out? Thanks, if this carrier will not work, any suggestions?

The Ultra-Fab motorcycle carrier, # UF48-979033, well add around 30 inches to the back of your Sprinter van. This carrier has a straight tongue so once installed and loaded it will most likely sag a little in the back. This can cause some bottoming out on inclines but it really depends on the incline and how high the receiver is on the vehicle to begin with. Also, the more distance from the rear axle to the back end, the more likely it is to bottom out.
The Sprinter will need to have a trailer hitch with a 2 inch receiver and a tongue weight capacity that exceeds the combined weight of the carrier (about 50 pounds) and the scooter. For example if the scooter weighed 200 pounds then the hitch would have to have a tongue weight capacity of over 250 pounds.
The absolute safest way to carry the scooter would be to use a small trailer. This eliminates a lot of the stress on the trailer hitch and it will take care of the bottoming out problem.
