Will Derale Series 8000Transmission Cooler D13502 fit my 1997 Ford Explorer XLT
Question:
I WAS WONDERING IF PART #HH41310 WILL FIT MY 1997 FORD EXPLORER XLT V6 4.O EFI. MY TRANSMISSION LINES CONNECT TO MY RADIATOR, COULD I CANCEL THOSE LINES AND RUN THEM TO A TRANSMISSION COOLER OR SHOULD I LEAVE IT THE WAY IT IS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

Transmission coolers are universal items and this one will fit your 1997 Ford Explorer XLT. The transmission from the factory is set up with a small cooler in the engine cooling system. It does fine for light use, but if you are towing an aftermarket Transmission Cooler is good idea for preventing wear and tear on your transmission, and even if you are not towing it will extend the life of your transmission.
The cooler you were looking at, part # D13502, has significantly more cooling ability than the factory set up. If you are towing a load, up to 5,000 pounds, this transmission cooler will be a significant improvement for your transmission. The new cooler goes inline with the old cooler. The fluid will follow this path: transmission, factory cooler, new aftermarket cooler, back to transmission. You would disconnect the factory return line at the transmission. That line runs to the new cooler and you have a new line from the new cooler back to the transmission.
