How to Use a B&W Companion Hitch for Industry Standard Rails in a 2022 Ram 3500 w/ OEM Prep Package

I have a BW 20k Slider hitch for rails and my new truck will have factory puck system. What is the best adapter for this hitch and will the adapter be compatible with a bed rug?

The best option to use your B&W slider in your new 2022 Ram 3500 with prep package is going to be to use the Replacement Slider Base for B&W OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVB3670. This would allow you to take the head from your current hitch and move it to this new base that fits in the puck system of your new truck.

If you wanted to keep your hitch the way that it is, you can use the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package # DM6099. But using this adapter would cause your hitch to sit 1-3/8" higher, which could potentially cause your hitch set up to be sitting too high.

More than likely you would be fine using a bed rug as long as there are holes for the plugs to attach to the factory puck system. But the manufacturers do not test their products with accessories like bed rugs installed so it will most likely be a judgement call based on the thickness of the bed rug. At most you might have to trim out small sections of the bed rug to allow proper function.
