Without knowing the width and height of your factory crossbars on your 2020 Subaru Ascent, I cannot confirm for sure if the Malone DownLoader # MPG114MD can clamp around the bars. However, I recommend measuring your bars. If they do not exceed 3" wide x 1" tall, the DownLoader can mount on the crossbars.

If you find that you need something with larger clamps, I recommend the etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier - Folding - Universal Mount # e98878. This carrier can fit crossbars up to 3-1/8" wide x 1-1/2" tall. I went ahead and attached a video of the carrier being used with factory crossbars on a 2020 Ascent. It also comes with 2 additional anchor straps than the DownLoader.
