Are Trunnion Bars Harder To install Than Round Bars On A Weight Distribution Hitch
Question:
I currently have the E-2 94-00-1033 hitch and one round bar have ped out of the head on a turn...almost through backing up so I was lucky... Considering the 92-00-1000 trunnion bar setup to eliminate any future problems with the bar ping out of the head. Will the head on the trunnion setup use the same bolt holes on the shank or will it need to be adjusted up or down on the shank? Is the trunnion easier or harder to setup? thanks..

Because the trunnion bars of the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-1000 come directly out from the head instead of looping down and then coming out, they will most likely need to be adjusted a bit to compensate for the height difference. Most likely you'll need to have them just a bit lower on the shank than you have the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA94-00-1033.
That being said the installation of both are pretty much the same, difficulty-wise. The round bars "pop" in and the trunnion bars just slide into place, with the ends being hoisted onto the brackets to complete the installation. The trunnion bars will be a more secure connection where you won't have to worry about them falling out. However, I do suspect that the round bar that fell out may have just not fully clicked in all the way because there should be a lot of tension pushing on the bar which would prevent it from falling down until the end was released from the bracket.
I've attached a video of both installations that you should watch and redo your hookup to test your current WDH. Try driving around in a parking lot for a little bit, making tight turns and backing into parking spaces. I know you just got the round bar so if it's being installed correctly and still failing then that's a manufacturer defect and shouldn't be happening.
