Infiniti QX60 OEM vs Aftermarket Roof Rack

Question:

Is there a reason I wouldnt want to use a Infiniti manufacturer roof rack? Im looking to add the roof rack and thought I would ask before purchasing. I couldnt find the weight limit on the rack either. This is the product Im referring to: Infinit part 999R1-RZ500

Sometimes an increase in the weight rating can be a huge motivator for going with an aftermarket roof rack over the OEM but it looks like the online owner's manual calls out a 165 lb weight capacity for the OEM roof rack so the 999R1-RZ500, which fits 2013-2020 model years, you're looking at is a great option that looks clean since it mounts directly into the flush rail system.

There is still a slight advantage in going with an aftermarket roof rack system but it has more to do with preference than anything. If you were to go with an aftermarket roof rack system, like the Rhino Rack ROC25 # RR86GR, you gain the T-Slots on top of the crossbars. These can be used for a cleaner look when mounting accessories since the hardware will be inside the crossbars as opposed to wrapping around them.

The tradeoff is the fit kit for the Rhino-Rack system because it reaches over the flush rails on your QX60 and secures via the door jambs. So with this you get the T-Slots but it doesn't look as clean as the OEM.

Attached is a review video of the ROC25 for you to check out.
