Trailer Options for Transporting a Small Sailboat
Question:
Im looking for a trailer to hold a small 17 sailing dory CLC Northeaster Dory with a 56 beam and also be able to have a rack on the top to hold either a couple kayaks/canoes or a rooftop tent. Also would like the trailer to be a little more heavy duty to be pulled by a 4x4 and taken down the coast of Baja in a few years. So larger tires/wheels would be a plus. Im in NE Ohio. Thanks,

We definitely have a trailer kit with the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer for a Heavy Kayak # MAL73FR that would work well to transport your CLC Northeaster Dory but there isn't a way to add another upper layer to a Malone trailer that will also allow you to carry your Northeaster Dory.
A potential option is the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer # Y08129 where you could load the Northeaster Dory on that lower crossbar system and then mount a rooftop tent to the top set of crossbars like what we find kitted together with part # Y08129-3727. From the top of the lower crossbars to the bottom of the upper crossbars measures 21" so if your Northeaster Dory can fit within that space height-wise this is something that you can use!
The Malone trailers are designed more for going straight to the water while the EasyRider is meant to be for the whole camping experience so this would be the better option for your trip in a few years.
