So you can definitely add a weight distribution hitch with sway control, even with the varying weights of your car trailer depending on if it is loaded.

What you will need is a system that is capable of handling a varying degree of tongue weights, and for a 6,000 lb - 7,500 lb trailer, that is likely going to be tongue weight capacities in the 650 lb - 1,000 lb range. That's quite a high range, but there is a system that is able to handle those tongue weights, which is from Reese:

- Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # RP66560

The Steadi-Flex # RP66560 is designed to work with tongue weights between 600 lbs and 1,200 lbs (along with a 12,000 lb towing capacity) so this is the exact system you need to handle your trailer with varying tongue weights.

So while it is rated correctly, the Steadi-Flex is also just a really good system that gives you superior sway control, created by friction at two points on the brackets for a more controlled ride. It is also much easier to set up with its clamp-on brackets and pre-set head tilt positions (most systems have a very involved process for tilting the head), which is going to be very important since you are going to have varying capacities.

The Steadi-Flex also comes with everything you need but for the hitch ball, with the correct one being the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # 19286.
