Comparing B&W Companion and B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Hitch for 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 without Prep

Question:

Will the hitch head from the Companion 20K model fit the pivot arms of the Patriot 16K model base? I realize I would be limited to 16K. I have a complete Companion 20K already and looking to put a base in a second truck without buying a second hitch head, using above bed rails instead of having to do the turnover ball, since rails require smaller modifications to the bed.

In order to use the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # BWRVK3255 on a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 without OEM Prep Pkg you'll need the B&W Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # BWRVR3200.

The Companion is a better option than the Patriot because the head design of the Companion has thicker jaws which grip the kingpin tighter and produce a smoother ride. The two however are not interchangeable in regards to heads and bases.
