If they did not use a Universal Wiring Adapter # C51515 and cut the ends off the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller # C24VV on your 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, you will need to do one of the following steps to cut power to your controller.
The first is to follow the wiring and either disconnect any inline fuse or completely remove the black power wire where it receives power from on your Silverado. You can also remove the white ground wire as that will break the power connection to the controller. This is the preferred route since the - - on your display is caused by a bad ground or power wire, and this will get you a chance to check the wiring.
If you cannot easily access these on your Silverado you can always disconnect the negative battery terminal to cut all the power into your Silverado.
