Recommended Hitch Bike Rack For Ford Transit 2500 Class B Motorhome Carrying Ebikes In The Future

Question:

Hi. We have a Kuat bike rack KU74FR. We just bought a small Class B camper van. It has a 2inch hitch receiver. The chassis is a Ford Transit 2500, which is 19 feet long with a tall roof. The Kuat rack is not rated for motorhome use according to your webpage. But weve been using it for several years with a Chevrolet Suburban, which is almost the same length and wheelbase as the Transit. Would it be OK to use the Kuat rack with the Ford Transit camper van? We have two bikes that each weight about 30 pounds. If not, can you please make some recommendations for a bike rack that is rated for use with a Class B motorhome? We want it to work with our current bikes and also rated for two eBikes at 60lbs each. We will buy the eBikes in the near future. Thanks!

The Ford Transit 2500 does not need a RV rated hitch bike rack. Your Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount, part # KU74FR, will fit your vehicle. You will still have to replace it if you plan on carrying 60 lb ebikes down the road.

If you want to carry ebikes, my hitch bike rack recommendation will be the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount - Gunmetal Gray, part # NV22G, will fit your vehicle. It has a 60 lb weight limit per bike. If you have ebikes with fat tires you will also need the fat tire strap, part # APBK. This hitch bike rack will not work with ebikes that have fenders.

For ebikes with fenders, I recommend the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount, part # TH903202. It has a weight limit of 65 lbs per bike.

I have included product description links and video review links below.
