Can Brake Magnet AKBRKR-M12 be Used on 24 Volt System

Trailer brakes and the magnets such as the Replacement Magnet Kit for 12" Electric Trailer Brake Assemblies - 5,200 lbs to 7,000 lbs # AKBRKR-M12 are 12 volt applications and not 24 volts. That said, there is actually a way for you to use electric trailer brakes (and their magnets) on a 24 volt application.

The first thing you can do is simply use a trailer brake controller that will convert a 24 volt signal to a 12 volt signal on the brake wire, and the one that does that is the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR.

For other brake controllers, what you would need to do on a 24 volt system is get a 24 volt relay for the stop light signal (which you will need to obtain locally) and install it on the stop light switch wire.
