Recommended Modern Replacement for 20.5 x 8-10 Tire/Wheel on 1986 Coleman Chesepeake Pop-Up

Question:

We are needing to replace our tires and rims on our pop up camper and the tire size that we can see says 20.5x8.0-10. What would you recommend that won’t break the bank. It’s a 1986 Coleman Chesapeake if that helps at all.

The modern equivalent to the 20.5 x 8-10 tire size would be 205/65-10.

You'll want to choose tires with a combined capacity that exceeds the GVWR (maximum allowed weight of pop-up itself plus gear stowed in it) of the camper. Given the 1300 lb weight I found in my research which is likely the dry weight of the camper, I'd choose a load range C tire, which would provide a combined 2200 lbs of capacity which should be more than sufficient.

If you need a 4 on 4 bolt pattern, I'd recommend # AM3H370. For a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern, use # AM3H390 or for a 5 on 5-1/2, use # AM3H453.

If you're not sure if you have a 5 on 4-1/2 or a 5 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern, simple measure from the center of one wheel stud to the center of the stud next to it. If that measurement is 2-5/8 inches, you have a 5 on 4-1/2. If the measurement is 3-1/4 inches, you have a 5 on 5-1/2.
