Is It Ok To Tow Trailers With A lifted Truck?

Question:

Can you still tow with a lifted truck? I have a 2018 Ram Cummins with a 4 in Icon lift. Im thinking about getting into hot shotting and concerned about the lift.

Hot Shot driving with a lift can cause issues, but if you were going to be towing bumper pull trailers, you are good to go. All you will need is an adjustable ball mount, like the American made BulletProof Hitches Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # ED2012. This will come with a 2" ball that is rated to 12,000 pounds and a 2-5/16" ball rated to a massive 30,000 pounds, so it will definitely have you covered for just about anything. The 12" rise and drop will also have not problem with lifted trucks, but may actually be more than you need. The average trailer will have a coupler height of 18", you will need to measure from the ground to the inside to of your receiver hitch. The difference will be the drop you need.

With that said, if you were going to be towing 5th wheel or gooseneck trailers, the lift may pose a problem. The coupler on a gooseneck trailer can be adjusted up and down a bit, but a 5th wheel trailer will not be. So long story short, it will depend on the trailer you are pulling.
