Is Any Additional Wiring Needed to Use a 4-or 5-Way Trailer Connector with a 7 to 4/5-Way Adapter
Question:
hi, I have a 2011 ford f 150 fx4 pick-up with a 7-pole plug mounted in the bumper. can I just plug this adapter into existing 7-poleor do I need to do some wiring to run my 4 pin flat plug or my 5-pin flat plug? also, will this adapter power my surge brakes on the 5-pin trailer?

Expert Reply:
By using adapter # 37385 in your truck side 7-Way you will be able to plug in a 4-Way or 5-Way flat and it will work without any additional wiring needed. In order for the electric reverse lockout to work the center pin on the 7-Way must be active (connected to the reverse light circuit).
