Recommended Brake Controller and Parts Needed on a 2022 Toyota Highlander w/ 4 way Connector

I have a 2022 Toyota Highlander with a tow package that includes a 4 way plug, My trailer calls for a 7 way round plug. I also need a proportional break controller. Suggestions?

The proportional brake controller that I recommend is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195. It's one of the best on the market because of how reliable it is plus the easy to use LCD. I have included a video of this controller being reviewed/installed on a 2019 Highlander. You will also need to pick up the Pigtail Wiring Harness with Diode # 7865, this wiring includes a diode that your Toyota needs. You will use this instead of the included wiring harness.

To use the P3 controller and provide the necessary 7-way connector for your trailer, you will need to use the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. The # ETBC7 kit will provide everything you need to adapt your 4-way into a 7-way and provide the correct wiring for the P3 brake controller to work properly. I also recommend picking up the Curt No-Drill Bracket # C57202 which will provide an attachment point for the 7-way bracket included in the # ETBC7 kit to mount your 7-way.
