CE Smith Boat Trailer CE48810 or CE48870 For 12 Foot Jon Boat

Question:

I have a 12 foot Lowe Jon boat 12 foot long, 32 inch floor, 48 inch beam, 100 lbs and am wondering which trailer to buy. Should I get this model CE48810 or the slightly larger CE48870. Im trying to keep things as light/short as possible because I will be towing the trailer with a Mazda3. But this model CE48810 seems like it might be a little too short for a 12 foot boat though. Thoughts? Thanks!

Really good question, and while either trailer will technically work for your 12 foot long Jon boat, the better option is going to be the longer CE Smith trailer:

- CE Smith Multi Sport Plus Boat and Kayak Trailer with Bunks # CE48870

The # CE48870 is for boats up to 14 feet long, and while the # CE48810 you mentioned will technically work for boats that are up to 12 feet long, that is the max, and the rear of the boat may hang off the back end more than you like. So the # CE48870 will be better for keeping the back end of your Jon boat on the trailer.

I also like the slightly larger 4.80-12 tires on the longer trailer as they give a bit of added clearance at the rear of the trailer. Overall, you made a really nice choice with the CE Smith trailer for your Jon boat, as it provides good value with its combination of quality and cost.
