Will the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit for 7K Axles Work with Grease or Oil
Question:
Is switching to oil bath recommended? I just installed this kit with Dexter 10-63 seals, and my seals are already leaking. It appears they leak when the trailer is sitting. Spindles were cleaned and wiped off, and the seals were properly installed. I’ve since heard horror stories about oil bath setups constantly leaking. I am most likely going back to grease vs the oil bath.

The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit for 7K Axles part # K2HR79 can be used with grease or oil. That said, you need to make sure the seal you are using matches the type of lubrication you go with. In regards to grease vs. oil, this is really preference but I will say oil is easier to change and add so it gets the edge as far as maintenance goes.
I have attached our seal selection below, the 7K axles can use either a 2.125" or 2.250" so you need to measure. You'll also need bearings part # 25580 and part # 02475.
