Recommended 5th Wheel Bracket and Hitch for a 2020 Ram 3500 with RamBox

I have bracket and 5th wheel hitch recommendations for you, but since your 2020 Ram 3500 has the RamBox upgrade you're also going to need to swap out your OEM pin box for one with a rotating turret like what we find with the Reese Sidewinder. If you were to use a standard pin box it would hit the rides of your truck bed, but since the Sidewinder rotates above the sides of your bed it takes care of this issue.

For a bracket kit I recommend using a Reese kit with custom brackets like the standard kit # RP50085-58 or the Outboard kit # RP56010-53 which is easier to install than the standard (check out the linked install video). I really like the custom brackets because it is a faster install time and you won't be drilling holes into the frame of your truck.

Then for a 5th wheel hitch I recommend the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs # RP30928 because of the always-ready jaw design and the full articulating torsion head that gives you a great ride quality. This is compatible with a Sidewinder pin box when used with the Wedge Kit # RP44FR.

If your 5th wheel doesn't already have the rotating pin box then I recommend using the Sidewinder as it is a tried-and-true solution to avoid hitting your RamBoxes. To make sure you get the correct one you'll need to locate the sticker on the side of your pin box and make sure the pin box number matches what the Sidewinder is designed to replace. For example, the 20K Sidewinder # RP34FR will replace the following pin boxes:

Fabex - 663 and 665
Lippert - 0719, 1621 and 1621HD
M&M - 663 and 665
Lippert - 1716, 1116, and 0115 (spacer kit required - sold separately)
