Even though I cannot confirm a specific year range of flat-towed capabilities of Chevy Equinox models, I did look up the owner's manual for a 2017 Chevy Equinox. That vehicle can be flat-towed with all four wheels on the ground.
For parts needed to flat-tow your 2017 Chevy Equinox, you need a base plate, a tow bar, a tow braking system, safety cables, and vehicle tow wiring. Here's a setup of the following parts you need:
- Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # DM9519332
- Blue Ox Alpha 2 Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch # BX7380 (comes with safety cables)
- Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39494
- Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-1676-7 (for Premier models)
- Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage Incandescent Tail Lights # RM26FR (for non-Premier models)
The great thing about the Demco base plate kit is that is simply installs into your Equinox's chassis. It comes with all required hardware and can use the Blue Ox Alpha 2 without an additional adapter. As far as the Alpha 2, it has swivel arms that allows for you to easily release your vehicle even in uneven ground and simply slides into the RV's hitch receiver without the need of a ball mount. In addition, the Brake Buddy Classic 3 comes with a internal inertia sensor that detects deceleration of your motorhome and signals the system to apply the Equinox's brakes. With the diode kits, these will allow you to connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your Equinox's lighting system (depending on if you have a Premier model or non-Premier model).
This setup will give you everything you need in order to flat-tow your 2017 Chevy Equinox. If you need any assistance installing any of these parts, I went ahead and linked videos that walk you through the processes.
