How To Fix Outside Wear Only On Trailer Tires
Question:
I have a 2021 36’ Forest River Sandstorm toy hauler and before that a 32’ Forest River Sandstorm toy hauler. Both trailers have shown excessive wear on the outside edge of the rear left side axle and the front right side axles only. The ccc weight for the trailer is 5045 pounds. I haul a 4 seater sxs weighing 1800 pounds and a 4 wheeler weighing 600 pounds. Then 110 gallons of water and 35 gallons of fuel. I put the sxs in first sitting on the axles and then the 4 wheeler behind facing sideways. I’ve just rotated the tires to even the wear in the past, but is there something that is causing this that I can prevent so I’m not going through tires every 2 years?

If there is only wear on the outside of the tire then that would indicate a suspension or axle issue, the only way to really diagnose this is to have the trailer looked over in person by a qualified trailer repair technician. If there are any worn or broken suspension components then they will need to be replaced. If the axles are somehow misaligned then we do offer kits to remedy this like the Correct Track Trailer Alignment and Lift Kit part # RR23QX which also has a built-in lift.
