Are CIPA 8000K EVO Formance Replacement Headlight Bulbs Legal for On Road Use
Question:
The reason these are not DOT approved is because of the blue light they produce which is illegal for public vehicles. Any bulb coated with blue paint will produce lower lumens and not good for off road use.

The CIPA # CM93417 bulbs are indeed not approved by the DOT. However, regular passenger cars, trucks and SUV's aren't subject to DOT inspections.
8000K replacement headlamp bulbs are legal in most states for passenger vehicles, you'll want to check the local/state ordinances in your area to determine whether they are legal for highway use in your state.
