Is Manual Reverse Lockout as Effective as Solenoid For Demco Actuator A91

Question:

I will be buying this actuator in the near future, and want to be able to back up as needed. Its on a popup camper, and not in constant service. Any idea at what angle the lockout device would be needed? Would the manual lock out be just as effective? Pricing is about the same for the solenoid. For my application, is the solenoid really indicated?

There isn't an angle I can give you for when the lockout would be needed; however, if you want to be able to back up as needed you will need a reverse lockout with the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM8609502.

That said, the Manual Reverse Lockout Kit for Demco Hydraulic Trailer Brake Actuators # DM5939 is absolutely just as effective as the Reverse Lockout Solenoid for Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuators - Non-Bypass # DM11993.

The trade-off being the manual lockout just isn't as convenient overall as the solenoid, simply because you have to activate it by hand each time you want to go in reverse. So for your application, since you aren't using your camper on a regular basis, the solenoid isn't 100 percent necessary. If you don't mind hopping out of your vehicle to activate it, there's no issue going with the Manual Reverse Lockout Kit # DM5939.
