Wiring a 4-Way Flat Connector on a 1987 S-10 Blazer
Question:
I have a 4-wire flat plug.I am useing trailer lights that are grounded thru the trailer.I have a1987 s-10 blazer,when i try to hook the signal lights up they blink dim and fast.What am I doing wrong?

It sounds to me like you have a bad ground connection that is causing the problem. Sometimes a plastic license plate holder will cause this situation and it can show up in a number of ways with the lighting. Check all of your ground points and make sure the trailer lights are grounded good to the trailer frame and you will probably solve the issue.
If this does not work then you will need to use a circuit tester, item # PTW2993 if you need one, and check the 4-way connector at the rear of the vehicle. If the vehicle connector is functioning properly then you need to check each wire on the trailer and make sure there is not a broken or pinched wire that is causing a short.
Finally, if nothing else works I would try a different flasher, found under the dash somewhere, and see if that is not the problem. Once in a while a flasher will wear out but usually this is not the problem.
