Calculating Tire Capacity for a Trailer with a Tandem, Dual Axle

Question:

I have a travel trailer with a dry weight of 4313lbs. It is equipped with four Load C tires on dual axles. The max load on each tire reads 1760LBS. Does this equate to a total maximum load of of 7040LBS? 1760 per tire per axle x4=7040. Thank you for clearing this up for me.

Your calculations are correct, your tire capacity is 7,040 lbs. You always want to go with the lowest rated component in your towing setup as your overall towing capacity. So if you check your trailers overall capacity and it is lower than this figure you would need to go with that figure as your overall capacity.

Typically, the trailer capacity is listed on a plaque or sticker near the coupler on the trailer frame.

I attached a couple FAQ articles on trailer tires for you to check out also.
