For hauling your boat trailer on your 2022 Ford Explorer, most trailers require a 5-way harness. For this route, I recommend the Curt Trailer Connector Adapter - 4-Way Flat to 5-Way Flat - Vehicle End # C57187. With this adapter, you will be able to use your existing 4-way harness to make the 5-way plug-in open for the trailer connector. As far as the install, it requires you to splice the additional wire into the reverse light circuit of the vehicle.
