Can I Clamp The Malone Cargo 16 On The Factory Rack Of My 2018 Honda CR-V

Question:

Hi, I just ordered the MPG902 from you. 2 Questions 1. I have stock 2018 Honda CRV rails and fixed crossbars. The rails are not very thick. They appear to be right at the minimum thickness of 3/4 I read a review that said when clamping onto thinner crossbars like the stock CRV the clamps dont get super tight and the box slides left to right. Do you know what material or some kind of rubber i could use to make a tighter fit if i have this problem? 2. The fixed crossbars sit a little further back on the CRV and are like 25 1/2 inch spread, so a good portion of the box will be off of the front crossbar. I estimate like 30-33 inches maybe. Will this be a problem? I attached a picture to give you an idea of where the crossbars are sitting. thank you.

While I have never had a rooftop cargo box slide on factory crossbars after installation, I do have a suggestion that my provide you with piece of mind. When you install your Malone Cargo16 Rooftop Cargo Box - 16 Cubic ft - Gray, part # MPG902, on your factory crossbars, I suggest that you cut up a bicycle inner tube into small pieces and use the clamps from the cargo box to clamp the rubber around the crossbar. Do not forget to use the enclosed tool to tighten the clamps on your crossbars. With regard to the length of your rooftop box and the overhang, you will have on the front crossbar, it will affect your gas mileage and there will be more wind resistance, but It will not be unsafe on the roof of your vehicle.

I have included a video installation link below.
