Solar Battery Charger for Two 12v Batteries
Question:
I have two batteries on my boat trailer...a smaller 12v 7ah battery for my EOH brakes and a second full-size 12v 100ah battery to run the Fulton electric trailer jack I purchased recently from eTrailer. Can I run pigtail the connection from the solar charge and attach to both batteries to keep their respective charges topped off. The jack and EOH brakes are used only for the occasional towing of my boat...maybe every 2-3 months. I realize the output from the solar charger is very low but do you think it will be sufficient for the very infrequent use of the trailer? Thanks.

Expert Reply:
Yes, the charge provided by the 2.5-Watt Solar Battery Charger item # PTW2997 will be enough to maintain a charge in your batteries with infrequent use like you described. This small of a charger doesn't put out a high enough voltage so it won't over charge your batteries.
