Do Class S Tire Chains Have to be Used for a 2017 Kia Forte

Question:

I have a 2017 Kia Forte s. I am thinking about getting tire chains. I found a set that I might be interested in but it says not S class compatible. My tire size is 205 55R 16. Will tire chains that say not S class compatible work on my vehicle?

When it comes to tire chains you always want to reference your owner's manual for any specifications. It looks like the online owner's manual for your 2017 Kia Forte calls for Class S chains so you'll want to stick to that to avoid damage to brake lines or whatever it is that's causing the low clearance on the back side of your 205/55R16 tires.

For your application I recommend going with the Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains # TH01221090 which are Class S compatible and give you a good, quality set of standard chains.

If you'd like to use chains that are a little more upgraded then the pewag Servo RS Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # PWRS73 is what I recommend because these are Class S compatible, they use self-tensioning to keep the chains nice and snug, and they come with some protection for your rims so that the chains won't come into contact with your rims.

I have attached review videos for the tire chains for you to check out.
