Parts Needed to Convert 4-Way of 1996 Dodge Ram to 7-Way and Install Brake Controller
Question:
Hey my father has a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500, the truck did not come with any factory trailer wiring. He wired a 4 way up in the past to use but he recently bought an enclosed trailer that has trailer brakes on it. Can you tell me what components he would need to wire everything up with a 7 way so he can utilize all the trailer lights/brakes etc? I know he needs a controller but I have no clue what else he would need as far as wiring and all. Thanks!

Since he has a 4-way already he'd need the part # ETBC7 to convert it to a 7-way so that you can wire in the brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to convert the 4-way to a fully functional 7-way and also comes with everything needed to wire in a brake controller.
For a brake controller the Brake EVN # TK63VR is a really great option that performs really well and is very reliable. It uses an inertia sensor to tell how hard you apply the truck brakes and applies a similar braking intensity to the trailer brakes.
