Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter for 1990 Ford Flatbed Truck With Recessed Ball

My bed has a small hatch where the gooseneck sits below the bed, ans there is not enough space for the whole companion hitch to be lowered. How far beneath the bed can the gooseneck ball be?

When installing the B&W Companion # BWRVK3050 the entire hitch adapter must be able to be lowered in order for you to use it. Unfortunately, you will not be able to use this adapter since you cannot fit the Companion in the recess on your truck.
Instead, you need the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter for Recessed Ball - Single Jaw - 21,000 lbs # DM8550046. This will allow you to convert your recessed gooseneck hitch into a 5th wheel hitch. In order for this to work the top of the ball can't be more than 13/16" below the bed of your truck.
