Why Arent My Titan Chains # TC2526 Fitting on My 2014 Honda Pilot with 235/60-18 Tires?
Question:
Hello, ordered Titan snow chains for my 2014 Honda Pilot and concerned they are too small. Used the buying guides to enter specs on tires 235 60 r18 but not sure if installation is sufficient - the chain does not appear to be able to stretch across the face of the rims. Product information is included below and a picture of my install last night is included. Presently buried in snow/ice overnight so urgent guidance appreciated. Thanks so much for reaching out to us with a picture of your chains. I have a great solution for you. The Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link # TC2319 will definitely fit your standard 235/60-18 tires on your 2014 Honda Pilot.
With that being said, by the looks of your photo, it looks like the main issue is how you installed the tensioner component on your tires. The chains will fit better/tighter if the tensioner is closer to an opposite position of where it started. I went ahead and attached a diagram of better hooking points. The blue arrow is the best point while the red is good if you have limited length/tension available. If you find that you do not have a lot of length on the tensioner, a lot of times it is beneficial to start from "scratch" and re-do the installation so that adequate length is available.
If you happen to still have trouble with the chains, it is important to make sure that there are no twists or overlapping of the chains at any point on the tires. I went ahead and attached a video that shows the chains being installed on a 2019 Honda CR-V. The installation process on your Pilot is nearly identical.
