Installing a Trailer Brake Controller Using Factory Wiring Harness on a 2013 Toyota Tundra  

Question:

The factory harness for my 2013 toyota tundra has 5 wires coming from the harness the brake controller has 4 wires. What do I do? The five wires from the factory harness are labeled as such: 1-black-red: fused trailer brake controller battery feed 2-green: headlamp switch to vehicle trail lamps 3-green-white: vehicle stop lamp switch to brake controller input 4-brown: trailer ground 5-red: trailer electric brake feed from brake controller output The brake control unit is draw tite 5100 1-blue: brake 2-black: battery 3-red: stoplight 4-white: ground Thanks

Trailer brake controller wiring is as follows:

White is ground
Black is 12 volt power to the controller
Red is Input from brake switch
Blue is output to trailer brakes

Here is how you would connect it to your factory Toyota harness:

Factory harness black/red to brake controller black
Factory harness green/white to brake controller red
Factory harness brown to brake controller white
Factory harness red to brake controller blue

The green wire on the factory harness is not used by the brake controller and can be taped up and stowed out of the way.
