Recommended Hitch And Bike Rack For A 2022 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid Model

Question:

Hi, I am looking for a hitch to carry a bike rack on my new 2022 Acura MDX Hybrid with the Sport package. I am looking at the Thule bike rack, but am open to other options as well. The hitch will of course need to be compatible the rack, so what are my options?

To start with, the Thule Hitching Post Pro - Folding Tilting 4 Bike Rack w Anti-Sway - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches
Item # TH934XTR is definitely a nice hanging rack option. This is American made and has a Lifetime Warranty, but it does not include locks and getting the bikes on the rack can be a little difficult.

Personally, I prefer platform style racks like the Swagman Chinook Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # S64683. Though not American made, this does include locks that lock the bike rack to the hitch and the bikes to the rack. The platform style also makes loading bikes a lot easier, so this is the one I prefer.

Either way you go, I recommend the Draw-Tite # DT42MR. This requires no drilling or trimming for the install, but full size spares will not be able to be stored under the vehicle. The "mini" spare tires will have no issue being reinstalled. We have done an install with one of these as well, so I included that install video for you to check out. This hitch will work perfectly for carrying a bike rack.
