Choosing Between Tire Cables and Snow Chains for a 2014 Subaru Outback
Question:
Should I buy snow tires or cables or chains for my 2014 Outback Subaru? We are living in Boone/BannerElk, NC area and have a few steep roads to travel often before the plows are out. Thanks for the advice.

The owner's manual for a 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon states only spring chains (cables) can be used so that is what I must recommend. The reason for this has to due with tire clearance. I recommend the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains part # PW1038 with the Glacier Multi-Arm Rubber Adjusters part # PW105 so they stay put. These cables are a great tire chain alterative that still provide great traction in snow and ice. They also won't create any issues with warranties or the vehicle manufacturer.
