Parts Recommended to F,at Tow a 2022 Chevy Equinox behind Jayco Precept Motorhome

Question:

Hi there, As we wait for delivery of our new 2022 Equinox, Id like your recommendations for a complete tow hitch set-up. Ive been looking at the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain non-binding 6000 lb hitch, but it appears Roadmaster doesnt have a base plate to fit the Equinox. We are also looking at a Roadmaster Invisibrake system. Please let me know what components you recommend, including safety cables if needed, wiring, etc. Thank you!

Roadmaster hasn't been able to get their hands on a 2022 Chevy Equinox to determine the base plate fits, so they cannot say whether or not the base plates for the 2021 model will carry over. However, Blue Ox lists the # BX1730 base plate as a fit, so that's what I'd recommend. Roadmaster offers the # RM-525 Falcon 2 tow bar that's compatible right out of the box with Blue Ox base plates, so it'll work great for you.

The Roadmaster Invisibrake, part # RM-8700 would work well for you. You'll also need the # RM-751489 brake stop light switch and safety cables like # RM-643. To power the Equinox taillights in synch with those of the motorhome, I'd recommend the Roadmaster # RM-15247.

Finally, when the # BX1730 base plate is installed, it'll sit about 16 inches above the pavement. If this sits more than 3 inches higher or lower than the height of the receiver on the motorhome, you'll need a high/low adapter to bring the tow bar within 3 inches of level. I'll link to a help article that shows how to determine the height difference. I'll also link to our selection of adapters as well as to some helpful installation videos.
