Recommended Wiring To Convert 4-Way Flat On 2021 VW Atlas to a 7-Way Trailer Connector

Hello, I have a 2021 vw atlas with a curt 6k hitch with a 4 pin wiring harness. Is there a product I can buy to be able to hook up a trailer that has a 7 pin?

The Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 will allow you to convert your 4-way flat wiring harness on your 2021 Volkswagen Atlas to use with trailers that have a 7-way connector. The connector will also retain a 4-way connector so you do not have to disconnect the wiring to use with a 4-way trailer or have to carry an adapter. Included in the installation kit is the additional wiring needed to run the wiring for the charge line portion of the 7-way along with wiring needed to install a brake controller.

If your trailer has electric brakes I recommend installing the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR. This small controller will not take up much space on your dash as the main unit is stored behind the dash. The proportional controller will automatically adjust trailer braking from the initial setting by sensing how much braking is applied in your Atlas via an inertia sensor. This makes driving more comfortable as you will not need to adjust the controller for light or panic braking scenarios.
